Combe Abbey Hotel

Combe Abbey Hotel

Coombe Abbey is a luxurious hotel which has been developed from a historic grade I listed building and former country house. It was founded as a monastery in the 12th century, and following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century it became royal property.

The hotel is reputedly haunted by several ghosts. These include: a monk named Abbot Geoffrey who was murdered here in 1345; a Romany girl; a figure riding a horse in the grounds; and an Edwardian lady riding a bicycle on the road outside. Phantom footsteps have been heard and objects have been allegedly thrown by something unseen.
